The
Mont Ventoux which lies 35km East of Carpentras is not only a place
of pilgrimage for cyclists but also a Unesco World Heritage Site for
its exceptionnal ecological resources. Excursions start from the villages
of Bedoin (southern flank) and Malaucene (northern flank). |

North) is famous for its ancient ruins and medieval city.
The journey there takes you along the "route des vins"
(Beaume de Venise, Vacqueyras, Gigondas). You can enjoy
on the way, the sculpted rocks of les Dentelles de Montmirail. |

(20km South) known locally
as the Venice of the Midi, is paradise for antique bargains. Carry on
toward Fontaine de Vaucluse and you can visit its notorious spring much
loved by Petrarque. If you opt for the tourist route on
your return, you will pass through Gordes and Venasque,
pretty villages perched on hill sides. You can also stop
at the Abbey of Senanque, jewel of the Cistercian art. |
